he VCOM-Carolinas Campus is nestled in beautifully preserved, historic downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina, approximately 30 miles from Greenville, South Carolina, and approximately 70 miles from Charlotte, North Carolina. The Carolinas Campus is surrounded by multiple colleges and universities including: Wofford, VCOM’s partner institution; Converse College, a private women’s college; University of South Carolina-Upstate, a branch campus of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina; Spartanburg Methodist College; and Spartanburg Community College, both of which are a two year institutions.
The City of Spartanburg has a population of 40,000 with the County comprising a total 281,000. The easy access to Interstates I-85 and I-26 allows for quick travel to parks, mountains, beaches and lakes. Within two hours, you can travel to surrounding areas like Greenville and Clemson, South Carolina and Charlotte and Asheville, North Carolina. In addition, Charleston, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia are three and a half hours away.
In Spartanburg, there is something for everyone. This active city shares nights of Jazz on the Square and Music on Main, live entertainment in downtown’s Morgan Square and Denny’s Plaza. Local farmer’s markets allow everyone to enjoy the local, fresh produce of the area. And, with great outdoor activities around the upstate, fitness and leisure combine with bicycle and hiking trails enough to keep anyone active.
Greenville, South Carolina: 30 miles
Downtown Greenville is the Upstate’s most popular place for dining, entertaining, fine arts and atmosphere. This vibrant community offers breathtaking views and Southern Charms at its finest. From its signature-style restaurants, to its diverse museums and thrilling outdoor recreation there is something for everyone. This quiet, diverse city is a certainly a “Green” gem of the Carolinas.
Charlotte, North Carolina: 70 miles from Spartanburg
Named “Charlottetown,” after Queen Charlotte, Charlotte, North Carolina, is where Southern charm meets modern, everyday city life. From Discovery Place, a hands-on science museum, to Charlotte Motor Speedway, curiosity and action can always be found. As the 17th largest city in North America and the second largest banking center after New York the has made it a truly International city.
