Anti-Virus: Symantec
Symantec AntiVirusTM (also known as Norton AntiVirus) is a good product to use and they keep their website up-to-date on the latest viruses and the tools needed to remove a virus if your computer becomes infected.
Below is some basic information on how to use the Symantec AntiVirus software.
To Launch Symantec Antivirus:
- Click Start.
- Select All Programs.
- Select Symantec Client Security.
- Select Symantec AntiVirus Client.
To Schedule Updates Automatically:
Note: It is recommended that you schedule virus definition updates to run daily, and during a time when the computer will be on. This process runs in the background and will not interfere with other applications that you maybe running.

Open Symantec AntiVirus Client.

From the File menu, select Schedule Updates.
- Click Schedule.
- Select Frequency and When.
- Click OK.
To Scan the Computer for Viruses:
- Open Symantec AntiVirus Client.

From the Scan menu, select Scan Computer.

Select Local Disk [C:].
- When the scan is complete follow the on-screen instructions, then close the window.
To Manually Perform a LiveUpdate:
- Open Symantec AntiVirus Client.

Click LiveUpdate.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish when the update completes.
- Click Exit.

VCOM Computer Help Line:
To report computer problems or questions, call the VCOM Help Line at 231-4400.
The help desk will log your information along with a brief description of the problem and generate a problem ticket for you. When the Information Technology department receives the problem ticket, a staff member will contact you to schedule a time to investigate the problem.
