The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) announced that it will hold its Seventh Annual Via Research Recognition Day on Friday, April 6th 2012. Research Day is a significant event for VCOM and supports the mission of the College to provide medical education and research that prepares globally minded, community-focused physicians and to improve the health of those most in need.

There will be ~80 Posters displayed by faculty, students and interns/residents. A panel of judges will evaluate the posters for Best Poster Awards (First & second prize) in Clinical (including Case Reports) and Biomedical research for medical students, graduate students, faculty and interns/residents categories. Researchers interested in displaying posters on Research Recognition Day must send an Abstract to Ms. Teresa Quinn at tquinn@vcom.vt.edu no later than March 9, 2012 for review using the Abstract Form; and accepted abstracts with poster number and instructions to prepare posters will be sent to the presenting author for submitting their presentation materials on PowerPoint slides to Mr. Calvin Price at cprice@vcom.vt.edu for printing by 12:00 noon on March 26th on a first come, first served basis. Printing of posters will be free of charge. Please follow the instructions on the attached Abstract form for Abstract preparation.
A panel of judges will select two posters each from Faculty and Students, under biomedical and clinical areas, for Best Poster Awards. Three top ranking posters from Residents will receive OMNEE Research Awards.
The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) is accredited by the Council of Medical Education of the AOA and by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
VCOM, Office of Continuing Medical Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8 hours AOA and AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity (1 credit for each hour of participation, not to exceed the maximum 8.0 credits).
A forum for health professionals in academic institutions, teaching hospitals, and practice sites to present or benefit from new inventions, interventions and programs intended to improve the health of all humans. Participants will have the opportunity to share their primary care research, prevention initiatives, translational studies, and identify collaborative research opportunities.
Biomedical and Clinical Scientists, Physicians, Physician Assistants, nurse practitioners, public health professionals, medical interns/residents, health professions students, graduate students and others interested in primary care issues and research.
