Welcome to Pediatrics!
A few of the goals and objectives for the third and fourth years are listed below:
- Gain experience and become proficient as a member of a health care team in an outpatient setting.
- Identify common pediatric medical problems seen in an outpatient setting.
- Gain proficiency in the evaluation of growth and development, and anticipatory guidance.
- Develop competency in pediatric history and physical exam skills, and their interpretation.
- Recognize the role of the pediatrician as an advocate for the child and their family.
- Utilize a knowledge base to make clinical judgment and diagnosis.
- Identify preventive strategies in pediatrics and how they can be used.
- Establish good communication with parents and caregivers.
- Select the correct pharmacologic therapy when needed.
- Select the appropriate osteopathic therapy when indicated.
- Recognize cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic factors that affect child health.
- Identify the underlying pathophysiology responsible for illness.
