ABOUT DR. SANTO: Arben Santo, M.D., Ph.D. graduated from the University of Tirana, School of Medicine (Tirana, Albania) in 1973. After completing the residency in pathology he joined the faculty at the Department of Pathology and Legal Medicine, University of Tirana, School of Medicine. He taught undergraduate and residency courses of General and Special Pathology. He served as Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Legal Medicine from 1987 to 1995, and received his Doctorate degree in 1993 (thesis title: Cellular necrosis in myocardial infarction). He is the author of 45+ articles, textbooks and monographs. He came to VCOM at 2002 as professor and course director of pathology. His current research interests include cardiovascular and renal experimental pathology. EXPERTISE: ABOUT DR. BROWNLEE: Dr. Brownlee is member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and serves in the Surgical Pathology Committee, and Graduate Medical Education Committee of College of CAP. He also is member of the following associations: United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, American Society for Clinical Pathology, Association of Molecular Pathology, Society for Applied Immunohistochemistry, American Association of Clinical Chemistry, American Society of Microbiology, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Greenville County Medical Society and South Carolina Medical Association. He is the author of 20+ journal articles, and a textbook chapter. |

ABOUT DR. CACECI:
Dr. Caceci received his A.B. in Biology from Kenyon College in 1969. After military service he returned to graduate school, receiving his PhD in Biology from Georgetown University in 1980. He was a Research Fellow in the Department of Pathology at the George Washington University School of Medicine from 1980 to 1982, and at the end of 1982 joined the faculty at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University. He came to Virginia Tech’s veterinary school in 1987. He teaches introductory Histology, Embryology, and Histopathology, and serves as Director of the Morphology Research Laboratory. He joined the faculty of VCOM in 2002 as a member of the Pathology section. He is the author of 60+ refereed publications, has been Principal Investigator on over $1,000,000 in extramural grants, and holds two US patents in applied biotechnology. In 1998 he was named a Fulbright Scholar to India, and taught physiology of sensory systems at Mangalore University. His current research interests lie in the areas of structure/function relationships in aquatic animals, and reproductive system development. He also has very extensive involvement with on-line learning and curricular development, and created one of the first on-line interactive histology sites, which is now used world-wide.

ABOUT DR. DUDLEY:
Alden W Dudley Jr, M.D. is a Professor of Pathology with special interest in neuropathology. He had his training at Duke University and the National Institutes of Health and was the first board certified neuropathologist in Wisconsin (UW 1968-76) and Alabama (USA 1976-80) where he was Chairman of Pathology. After being Director of Neuropathology at the Cleveland Clinic (1980-85), he became Professor of Pathology at Baylor and Chief of Laboratory Medicine at the Houston VAMC (1985-96). From 1996 to 2001 he coordinated Laboratory Medicine at all eight VAMCs in the New York City area. In 2001 he became Chief of Staff at the Salem, VA VAMC and immediately pursued affiliation with VCOM. Since retirement, he has been teaching at VCOM.

ABOUT DR. OLGUN: Selen Olgun, M.D., Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences at VCOM. She received her M.D. degree from Ege University Medical School in Turkey in 1995 and her Ph.D. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2004. She currently teaches Neurophysiology, Neuroanatomy, and Clinical Diagnostics & Laboratory Techniques courses. She served as a Course Coordinator for Neuroscience Block, and member of VCOM Ethics Board, Via Wellness and Assessment Committees. She currently serves as a member of VCOM Admission Committee. Dr. Olgun is an active member of the American Physiological Society and The American Association of Anatomists. She has presented at several national meetings, and published numerous articles and abstracts in immunology and molecular toxicology area. She received numerous travel awards to present her research findings, from Arthritis Foundation, Society of Toxicology, and GSA of Virginia Tech. She was also the recipient of Best Poster award from the National Capital Area Chapter of Society of Toxicology, and Second Place award of the Biomedical Sciences in 2004 Research Symposium at VCOM. |

Soheila Yadrandji, M.D.Assistant Professor Tele: 540-953-5165 |
ABOUT DR. YADRANDJI: Soheila Yadrandji, M.D. is an assistant professor and teaches Hematopathology and Dermatopathology. She finished her post doctoral training in Combined Anatomical/Clinical Pathology at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. She is board certified in Combined Anatomical and Clinical Pathology from the American Board of Pathology. Subsequently she completed two year fellowship in Transfusion Medicine and Hematopathology at William Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Yadrandji is active medical staff as Pathologist at Montgomery Regional Hospital since December 1999. She is a co-director of Laboratory Medicine Services. She is currently the Chair of the Transfusion Committee and serves on other committees. Her research interests include tumor pathology, mainly pulmonary adenocarcinomas. MORE INFORMATION ABOUT DR.
