Welcome to Internal Medicine!

s clinicians, teachers, and researchers, our faculty members are committed to the college's mission to provide medical education and research that prepares globally minded, community-focused physicians and to improve the health of those most in need.

Over 60 strong and growing, the members of the Internal Medicine faculty are practicing in nine of our training hospitals throughout Virginia. The department provides a variety of training opportunities that span from community hospitals to large tertiary care centers. Our faculty who are passionate about education, have a wide range of practices including both ambulatory primary care and hospital-based medicine. Our faculty include those practicing general internal medicine and those who practice in the full range of sub-specialties. Sharing the college's mission, and leading by example, members of our faculty provide volunteer care for the under-served in regional free clinics, and on international medical missions.

Description of Department Goals:

To promote the career of Internal Medicine in the Appalachian region.
To provide unsurpassed clinical instruction in community-based osteopathic Internal Medicine.
To raise the standard of twenty-first century healthcare delivery at all our affiliated institutions, through the creation of new osteopathic post-graduate training programs, clinical research, and the utilization of network technology.
To perform clinical research that will improve the health of our patients.
