Anti-Virus: Symantec

Symantec Endpoint Protection® (also known as Norton AntiVirus) is a good product to use and they keep their website up-to-date on the latest viruses and the tools needed to remove a virus if your computer becomes infected.

Below is some basic information on how to use the Symantec Endpoint Protection® software.

To Launch Symantec Endpoint Protection®:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select All Programs.
  3. Select Symantec Endpoint Protection®.
  4. Select Symantec Endpoint Protection®.

To Schedule Updates Automatically:
Note: It is recommended that you schedule virus definition updates to run daily, and during a time when the computer will be on. This process runs in the background and will not interfere with other applications that you maybe running.

  1. Open Symantec Endpoint Protection®.
  2. From the File menu, select Schedule Updates.
  3. Click Schedule.
  4. Select Frequency and When.
  5. Click OK.

To Scan the Computer for Viruses:

  1. Open Symantec Endpoint Protection®.
  2. From the Scan menu, select Scan Computer.
  3. Select Local Disk [C:].
  4. When the scan is complete follow the on-screen instructions, then close the window.

To Manually Perform a LiveUpdate:

  1. Open Symantec Endpoint Protection®.
  2. Click LiveUpdate.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click Finish when the update completes.
  5. Click Exit.
