ABOUT DR. HILL:
Brian W. Hill, Ph. D., is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences and the Associate Dean for Biomedical Academic Affairs. He received his Ph. D. from the University of South Florida in 1994. Following this he taught for nine years at Freed-Hardeman University and served as the Senior Scientist at the Cancer Research Institute of West Tennessee. Dr. Hill has been at VCOM since 2003 and he teaches histology and cytogenetics. As the Associate Dean for Biomedical Academic Affairs, he oversees the planning, implementation and assessment of the classroom instruction of the first two years of the medical program.

ABOUT DR. MCWHORTER:
Dr. McWhorter is a Professor of Anatomy at VCOM-CC and Discipline Chair for Histology. Before pursuing his postsecondary education, he completed four years of active duty in the United States Navy. Subsequently, Dr. McWhorter went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from Truman State University, a Master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Missouri, and Doctorate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in conjunction with Kent State University.
Dr. McWhorter has 20 years of teaching experience, during which time he has taught undergraduate students, graduate students, allopathic students, and osteopathic students. At VCOM-CC, he teaches gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroanatomy. Dr. McWhorter has received teaching awards from the University of Missouri, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and GA-PCOM.
Medical education is the center of Dr. McWhorter’s scholarship. He has been an active member of the American Association of Anatomists (AAA) and the American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA) since 1994 and 1998, respectively. From 2002 to 2006, Dr. McWhorter served as Associate Editor for the Journal of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (JIAMSE). Currently, Dr. McWhorter reviews manuscripts for the journals Academic Medicine, Clinical Anatomy, JIAMSE, and Medical Education. For the past decade, he has written anatomy questions for the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX).
Outside of academia, Dr. McWhorter enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen, and two sons, Alex and Sam. They have two German shepherd pups, Mac and Duke, two four-wheelers, and seven acres of land. Dr. McWhorter also enjoys resistance training and Brazilian jiujitsu. In 2007, he won the North American Grappling Association’s (NAGA) U.S. Nationals in the heavyweight director’s division. |
