This unrestricted fund allows the dean to address the college’s highest priorities and areas of greatest need. This fund allows Dean Rawlins to take advantage of new opportunities, respond to challenges and invest in the future. These contributions are essential to preserving and protecting VCOM’s financial health. As a financially self-sufficient college, VCOM does not receive any funds from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
VCOM makes available to affiliated training sites and physicians throughout Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia extensive electronic library resources.
The electronic library assists physicians in providing care to their patients by providing access to current evidence-based medical knowledge. Gifts are appreciated to support the campus library or the electronic library. The opportunity also exists to
name the campus library with a major gift.
Today’s medical education requires the use of sophisticated technologies. In the summer of 2008 VCOM opened the Simulation & Technology Center at the Knollwood building. The Center includes six simulation teaching theaters, six exam rooms, three surgical suites, dedicated classroom and support space. Students and medical residents have the opportunity to practice procedures utilizing realistic mannequins. Opportunities exist to name rooms within the facility. The Center may also be named through a substantial gift.
