Adhesion
Capabilities of Current Polymeric Materials to Different Embalmed
Tissue Types: The purpose of this project is to determine
the adherence capabilities of polymers on embalmed human tissues.
Plastination is a preservation technique of tissues that involves
the replacement of water and lipid content with curable polymers
that hardened, maintaining the gross structure of the specimen.
The use of dissected plastinated specimens as a teaching resource
is well documented and has been particularly useful in the area
of neuroscience teaching. The specimens act as an additional
resource for the teaching of normal as well as abnormal gross
anatomical structures.
