The Alma Mater

The Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) Alma Mater was presented by the Class of 2008 to the VCOM Community at the Innaugural Class Graduation on June 2, 2007. The Alma Mater was written by Matthew Lowrance ('08) and the first version was sung by Matthew and his brothers.

Verse 1:

There's a place in the New River Valley
that was home once to you and me.
Where I learned how to heal the hearts of many,
and with my hands I can help those in most need.

Verse 2:

When we get to see the miracle of healing,
let us hold true to all that we have learned.
And to the school with the name of Edward Via,
all your gifts, to the world, we will return.

CHORUS:

VCOM, to thee I will be faithful.
VCOM, my alma mater true.
As I travel down the road I have chosen,
in my heart, there's a little piece of you.

Verse 3:

There's a place in the mountains of Virginia,
where physicians learn to see more than disease.
We seek to heal the mind, body and the spirit,
and try to save the world and finally find some peace.

CHORUS
