The mission of VCOM’s Office of Faculty Development is to provide exemplary and timely educational opportunities to faculty, staff, physicians and other health care providers in southwest Virginia and beyond.
The goal of these faculty development activities is to assist the targeted audience in maintaining, developing, and enhancing their knowledge, skills, and professional performance. VCOM is dedicated to providing quality resources to support a lifelong learning experience and facilitating professional growth.
Faculty development programs will be granted Category 1-A credit up to a maximum of 15 credits per CME cycle and Category 1-B credit for any excess credits if sponsored by an AOA-accredited Category 1 CME sponsor and meet the 1-A faculty/hours requirement.
The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. In the fall of 2010, the CME awarded VCOM three years, the CME awarded VCOM three years accreditation as a Category 1 CME sponsor. VCOM strictly adheres to the standards and regulations provided by the AOA and ACCME governing the provision and documentation of CME programming.
