Upon submission of secondary applications for admissions to VCOM, a nonrefundable fee of $85.00 per is due to VCOM. Please make checks payable to VCOM. Also, please note in the memo section of checks that they are for secondary application fees and provide the names of the students for whom the fees are being paid. Secondary application fees can be paid via PayPal.
A fee of $67.50 also is assessed for the required background checks. These funds are submitted directly to the company that does the background check.
Upon acceptance into VCOM, a tuition deposit of $1,500 is due to VCOM. The tuition deposit is non-refundable. Deposit due dates begin December 14, except for early decision candidates, and follow the application process schedule published in the AACOM “College Information Booklet” located on line at www.aacom.org. Payments are credited toward the tuition and fees upon matriculation.
Tuition and fees charges are billed in two installments for each academic year, typically in July and December. Bills or invoices are sent electronically to the students’ VCOM e-mail accounts. Payments are due in full within 30 days of the billing dates, unless special arrangements have been made with the Dean or the Business Office. A late fee of 5% may be assessed if amounts owed are not paid in full by the due date.
Tuition includes anatomy dissection equipment, select computerized programs, and SOMA and VOMA dues.
Tuition and fees may be paid with checks, payable to VCOM. Please include the students’ names on checks. Checks may be mailed or taken to the appropriate Business Office on each campus. Contact information is listed at the end of this section. VCOM does not accept credit or debit cards for tuition or fee payments.
Students receiving federal aid or scholarships that have not arrived by the beginning of the academic year must provide written assurance that the funds are awarded. Any outstanding tuition and fees must be paid before any refunds to students can be processed.
Payments also may be made by preauthorized debits, in which the monies are electronically removed from payers’ bank accounts by VCOM, or wire transfers, in which the payers electronically transfer monies from their checking accounts to VCOM’s checking account. Please note that additional fees may be assessed by the payers’ banks and may need to be added to the transfer amounts. If you are interested in utilizing the preauthorized debit or wire transfer payment options, please contact the appropriate Business Office listed at the end of this section.
Tuition is subject to change annually. Tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year is $39,000 and the health/recreational/technology fee is $530. VCOM’s Board of Directors (Board) reserves the right to change the schedule of tuition and fees without advance notice, and to make such changes applicable to present, as well as future, students of VCOM. The Board also may establish additional fees or charges for special services whenever, in the Board’s opinion, such actions are deemed advisable.
Any checks utilized to pay tuition or any fees that are rejected or returned to VCOM because of insufficient funds will be assesses a returned check fee of $35, which is subject to change. Thereafter, the payments that are due, plus the returned check fees, must be paid with cashier’s checks or money orders.
If students cease academic activities at VCOM prior to the expiration of 60% of any term, pro-rata tuition and fee refunds will be processed by the Business Office. No tuition and fee refunds will be calculated for any students after 60% of any term has expired or passed. Students who are dismissed, or accept unofficial involuntary withdrawals from VCOM are not eligible for tuition and fee refunds. The pro-rata tuition and fee refunds will be applied to the students’ accounts and may reduce any balances the students owe VCOM. The balances students owe VCOM may occur when students borrow monies to pay tuition, fees and living expenses through the Direct Lending program, and subsequently cease academic activities at VCOM. The U.S. Department of Education requires VCOM to return the unearned portion of these loans. Please refer to the Return of Title IV Funds Policy in the Financial Aid section of VCOM’s web site for more information. Occasionally, tuition and fee refunds may result in VCOM returning monies to students.
Effective July 1, 2010, students will be charged for participation in altered academic programs. These charges will consist of an administrative fee, and charges for the portion of curriculum being completed and any additional remediation courses. Most, if not all, the charges will be based upon the annual cost of attendance. For students who fail rotations, boards or have additional curriculum requirements, and must complete altered degree programs to graduate, the Business Office will invoice students participating in these programs for any months extending beyond three 11-month years and a 10-month fourth year.
Students, or the persons who may claim students as dependents, may be able to claim either the tuition and fees deduction or the Hope and/or Lifetime Learning credits on their federal tax returns for qualified tuition and related expenses that were actually paid in a given year.
VCOM distributes Forms 1098-T to students via the U.S. Postal Service or by announcing a location at which forms can be picked up on or before January 31st.
