The VCOM Office of Admissions is happy to host you for an Open House or an individual visit.
Open House
VCOM hosts two Open Houses annually – in the spring and fall of each year. Open Houses are conducted on a Saturday afternoon to accommodate travel and academic schedules. Each Open House will provide a review of the curriculum and clinical rotations, tour of the facility, panel discussion with students, OMM demonstration, overview of the admissions process, and introduction to financial aid. Admissions representatives are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the conclusion of the Open House to meet one-on-one with visitors.
Individual Visits
We are also willing to host prospective students for an individual visit to campus. Visits are conducted Monday through Friday and are based on the availability of the admissions office. Individual visits consist of a meeting with an admissions representative and tour of the facility. To schedule an individual visit, please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions-carolinas@carolinas.vcom.edu.

Class of 2015
Hometown: Kingsport, Tennessee
Undergraduate: East Tennessee State University, B.S. Biology
Interests: Live music, sports, outdoor adventures, visiting family, politics, and getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things
After watching many of my close relatives die of cancer, I knew I needed to make some positive lifestyle changes to try to alter my susceptibility to this deadly disease, among others. I developed a strong passion for understanding the human body, fitness, nutrition, and the interrelationships between them. At the same time, I love interacting with people, and the opportunity to pass on medical knowledge and make a positive difference in other’s lives as well is very gratifying and something I feel led and inspired to do.
I chose VCOM’s Carolinas Campus to study medicine because it is close to home, the faculty were very professional and uplifting about the mission of the school when I interviewed, and because my girlfriend is doing her residency close by in Columbia, SC. I am from a small, rural town, so the school’s mission and location are a great fit for me. Being a part of the inaugural class presents the opportunity to set the bar for future classes and give VCOM a strong reputation as a school potential applicants would want to attend.
I am proud to be part of the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Performing military funeral honors for all those veterans who paid the ultimate price so that I could have the freedoms I enjoy today was such an honor of mine, and something that I will always hold dear to for the rest of my life
