In August of 2011, VCOM - Carolinas Campus admitted it's first medical student class - the Class of 2015.

Age:	Average upon matriculation is 24 and upon graduation will be 28. Approximately 23% are married.
Gender:	50% of the class is male and 50% is female.
Minority:	14% from multicultural backgrounds, and 7% is underrepresented minority.
Residence:	26% are from the State of South Carolina, 13% from the state of North Carolina 5% are from Virginia. 63% are from an Appalachian State.
GPA:	The Class of 2015 has an average Science GPA of 3.55 and an average Overall GPA of 3.61.
MCAT:	The average MCAT score is about 25 and median writing sample of O.

“I am proud of lettering in football all 4 years at ECU and, of course, getting into medical school. My MPH degree opened my eyes to the health disparities facing our great nation and will help me meet my goals of why I entered medical school – to make a difference in people’s lives and to serve in underserved communities.

An M.D. once told me that D.O.’s are “doctors who care” which is one of the reasons why I chose to enter osteopathic medicine. VCOM’s Carolinas Campus has amazing new facilities and it is in a great location in the south. The Carolinas Campus is close to the beach, close to the mountains, and the campus is beautiful.

When I am not studying I enjoy going for a run in the Wofford campus, VCOM’s partner, or preparing to study some more! ”
