Interview Day

On average, completed applications will be reviewed for an interview within two weeks of the completion date. Candidates who submit a competitive application will be invited to the VCOM campus for an interview. The interview day begins at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at 3:00 p.m.

Schedule

Orientation Session on VCOM Director of Admissions Admissions Interviews: Three one-on-one interviews with VCOM faculty members. Each candidate will interview with one physician, one basic science faculty member, and a third faculty member/administration. Interviews are open-file and will last approximately 30 minutes. Should you develop flu-like symptoms prior to your interview, please do not attend and contact the Office of Admissions by phone at 540-231-6138 promptly. We will be glad to work with you to reschedule your interview.

 

Travel and Lodging Information

VCOM negotiated reduced rates at several area hotels for campus visitors. Please be sure to identify you are traveling to Blacksburg for an interview with VCOM in order to obtain the reduced lodging rate.

For candidates traveling to Blacksburg via airplane, the closest airport is the Roanoke Regional Airport (ROA) located 45 minutes from VCOM. Candidates may also consider flying to Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, NC located just over 2 hours from VCOM (PTI) or Charlotte Douglas International Airport located under 3 hours from VCOM (CLT).

Interests: Cooking and eating ethnic foods, mountain biking, intramural sports, old movies and spending time with friends and family. 

 My most unforgettable medical school experience has been working in the cadaver lab. I truly believe dissecting a human body is one of the most invaluable experiences medical students ever have. VCOM's systems-based learning model makes our time in the gross anatomy lab even more enriching since we learn the pathology and clinical aspects of the organ systems at the same time we are dissecting them. 

I am interested in pediatrics because I can combine two of my favorite things in life: children and education.  I want to foster genuine relationships with my future patients and their families. 

When I am not studying, I enjoy cooking and eating ethnic foods, mountain biking, old movies, and spending time with my friends and family.  I have also enjoyed playing on the intramural soccer, basketball, and flag football teams with my fellow classmates.  I also like trying to get eight hours of sleep every night!
